Samadhi Rush Episode 168// My Autumn Practice

Hi Shining-Hearts,

So happy to be here together. This week, I’m in California filming season 2 of Practical Magic (my yoga show on Yoga Anytime). EXCITED! Can’t wait to share.

For this week’s podcast, I’m sharing my thoughts and intentions for practice this season. Fall is BIG. I require much care and grounding this time of year. How about you? What are your practice intentions for this season? Southern Hemisphere friends, what is happening in your spring-time revitalization? Tell me.

LOVE you.

Interview with Lisa Wells//

Samadhi Rush Episode 163// Interview with Lisa Wells

Hi there, dear ones.

Today’s episode is SO special to me. For episode 163, I sat down with yogini Lisa Wells to talk about it all. Such nourishing conversation. So happy you can listen in.

Lisa Wells,  PhD, ERYT500, teaches yoga, meditation, mixed-abilities dance, trauma-release, Ayurveda and co-owns Live Well Studio in Corvallis, Oregon.  Her 25+ years of yoga practice have brought her patience, humility and happiness. Her 56+ years of life have led her from trauma, through addiction, to recovery and joy in a life that includes rather than excludes suffering.  Lisa has been teaching yoga since 2000. She received her PhD in Geology from Stanford University. In her current incarnation as a yoga teacher she has been called a “Geographer of the Body.” She specializes in gentle yoga adapted to all bodies.

Thank you so much for being here. All of you. Always.

In ayurveda, yoga’s sister science of health, fall is the time of vata. Vata is characterized by cold, dryness, light and changeablity.

I am particularly susceptible to autumn.

Wind-swept, dry, scattered, bare-boned.

My prakrti (nature, in ayurveda-speak) tends toward Vata, the way of the wind, anyway; autumn’s nature  has a way of amplifying my own.

In years past, dryness and scattered energy have bothered me to the point of agitation, and I have spent many months trying to remedy the like-upon-like Vata imbalance with super-grounding practices and unbelievably unctuous foods.

This year, though, I felt inspired to find the balance in the imbalance, to find the teacher in the scattered energy and dry bones, to move with nature rather than remedying it.

I did headstands.

I ran, walked and biked fast.

I kept waking up early.

And there were days that felt too full and fast, for certain, but I found the chaos to be a great clarifier. Without the balms and remedies I relied on in years past, I found freedom to really let go of some things that were not working in order to align more completely with what is working.

It was hard work, to be sure, but I feel more clear moving into winter than I have in many years.

—–

I already feel winter’s inward pull.

I find myself quieter in all ways.

And I won’t fight it this year.

Inward.

Onward.

Love.

Kelly Connor Sunrose Interviews Sarah Trelease

Sunrose Yoga Podcast Episode 112// Interview with Sarah Trelease

Dearest hearts,
Thank you so much for being here today. In this show, I share a conversation that I had with the amazing Sarah Trelease. I had such a powerful conversation with Sarah. We actually talked for over two hours. And it was ALL gooey goodness, so I am presenting this interview in two parts: today and next time. Stay tuned for part two.

Kelly Connor Sunrose Interviews Sarah Trelease

About my guest, Sarah:

Sarah Trelease has been teaching yoga classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats around the world since 1999. With Renee Sills (whom you might remember from Episode 109), Sarah is Co-Director of Sola School for Contemplative Arts, which holds trainings in contemplative embodied practices for yoga students and teachers in Portland, Oregon. Her teaching is informed by her quest for deep self-awareness, compassion, and clarity of intention. Drawing on her training and practice in Tibetan Buddhism as well as her studies with modern masters in anatomy and yoga, Sarah offers classes that balance breath, alignment, and flowing movement, developing strength as well as deep clear awareness of the body, heart and mind.

In this conversation, Sarah and I mention some names and faces and practices:

I am so grateful for these opportunities to sit down with fellow practitioners. Many thanks to Sarah for sharing her time and wisdom.
